Darshan, also known as Darshan Thoogudeepa was born on February 16, 1977. He is an actor, producer, and distributor from India who focuses mainly on the Kannada film industry. His father is the actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas. He started his acting career in soap operas in the mid-1990s. Majestic was his first film in a lead role.

He was the son of actor Thoogudeepa Shrinivas and Meena, in Mysuru in the Indian state Karnataka. He was also known as Darshan. Thoogudeepa, a 1966 Kannada movie in which Srinivas starred and won fame, after which his nickname remained. His father was often the villain in Kannada cinema. His father was reluctant to let him enter Darshan. He enrolled at Ninasam Theater Training Institute, Shimoga, despite his father’s wishes.

Career

After dropping out from Ninasam Darshan worked as a lighting boy in a few movies, before he was hired as B. C. Gowrishankar’s assistant cameraman. Darshan had small roles that were uncredited the first time. He also played small roles in TV soap operas during this period.

In 2000, P. N. Satya’s 2001 movie Majestic came out. Darshan was able to make his big break in the film business with this movie. He was then cast in several big-budget movies like Kariya, Daasa, and Kalasipalya. Darshan has been in movies alongside other stars. Darshan was, for example, in Snehana Preethina starring Aditya and Anatharu along with Upendra.

He was the lead actor in the historical drama Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna. He was also seen in Chakravarthy, Sarvantrayami.

Darshan was awarded the Zee Kannada Innovative Film Awards for the category Onida Style Icon in 2010. Darshan was awarded the South Filmfare Award for Sarathi in 2012. He was awarded the Bangalore Press Club Man-of-the Year award and the Bangalore Times Filmfare Award. Darshan was awarded the 9th SIIMA Award in 2021 for Yajamana.
